The French rugby season is kicking off here (on the tail end of France winning an Olympic gold medal in the Rugby 7s) and last night we went to a ‘friendly’ derby match between Beziers and Narbonne at the iconic Beziers Stade Raoul Barriere. There was such a great atmosphere – the ‘oompah band’ played throughout; various songs and chants were sung at key moments and Beziers played a cracking game of rugby, beating the favourites 36-14. We were cheering both teams but mostly supporting our friend Lena Fifita who plays for Narbonne! If you are staying at Maison Flamant at this time next year (at the start of the Beziers Feria )
this is worth a night out. Tickets were 10 euros each and the Stade was packed with 
families having fun.
